Peer Review Process — Al-Ahla: Jurnal Ilmu Hukum dan Hukum Keluarga Islam

Al-Ahla: Jurnal Ilmu Hukum dan Hukum Keluarga Islam applies a rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure academic quality, originality, and relevance. All manuscripts submitted to the journal undergo an initial editorial screening, followed by a structured review by independent experts in the field. The entire process is designed to promote scholarly integrity, transparency, and constructive academic dialogue.

1. Initial Editorial Screening

  • Upon submission, each manuscript is reviewed by the editorial team to assess its relevance to the journal’s focus and scope, adherence to author guidelines, and compliance with ethical standards.
  • Manuscripts that fail to meet basic requirements, exhibit plagiarism, or fall outside the journal’s thematic coverage will be rejected without external review.
  • Editors may request revisions at this stage before the manuscript proceeds to peer review.

2. Double-Blind Peer Review

  • Each eligible manuscript is evaluated by at least two anonymous reviewers with expertise in the relevant field.
  • Both reviewers and authors remain anonymous throughout the review process to ensure impartial and unbiased evaluation.
  • Reviewers are asked to assess the manuscript’s originality, clarity, methodological rigor, theoretical contribution, and scholarly significance.
  • They may recommend one of the following decisions: accept as is, accept with minor revisions, revise and resubmit, or reject.

3. Revision and Editorial Decision

  • Authors are required to respond to reviewers’ comments and make the necessary revisions within the given time frame.
  • Revised manuscripts may be sent for a second round of review, depending on the extent of revisions required.
  • The final decision on acceptance or rejection rests with the Editor-in-Chief, based on reviewers’ recommendations and the quality of revisions made.

4. Copyediting and Proofreading

  • Accepted manuscripts undergo professional copyediting, layout editing, and proofreading to ensure linguistic clarity, formatting consistency, and publication quality.
  • Authors are given the opportunity to review the proofs before final publication.
