Author Guidelines — Al-Ahla: Jurnal Ilmu Hukum dan Hukum Keluarga Islam

Authors are invited to submit original manuscripts that contribute to the advancement of legal studies, Islamic law, and Islamic family law. Before submission, authors are expected to read and adhere strictly to the following guidelines. Manuscripts that do not comply with these requirements may be returned for revision prior to review or rejected outright.

1. Manuscript Preparation

  • Manuscripts must be written in English or Bahasa Indonesia in a clear, concise, and academic style.
  • The manuscript should be prepared in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format, typed on A4-size paper (21 x 29.7 cm), single-column, using Times New Roman 12 pt, and 1.5 line spacing.
  • The typical length of a manuscript is between 4,000 – 6,000 words, including references, tables, and figures.
  • Margins should be set at 2.5 cm on all sides.

2. Manuscript Structure

  • Title: Concise, informative, and written in title case (maximum 14 words).
  • Author(s) Information: Full name(s), institutional affiliation(s), country, and email address (corresponding author must be indicated).
  • Abstract: Written in both English and Bahasa Indonesia, containing 150–250 words summarizing the purpose, methodology, main findings, and conclusions.
  • Keywords: 3–5 relevant terms that represent the content of the article.
  • Introduction: Describes background, research problem, objectives, and significance of the study.
  • Literature Review: Outlines theoretical foundations and relevant previous studies.
  • Methodology: Explains the research design, data sources, and methods of analysis (qualitative, quantitative, or mixed).
  • Results and Discussion: Presents findings with critical analysis and theoretical reflection.
  • Conclusion: Summarizes key insights, implications, and possible future directions.
  • References: Only includes works cited in the text, arranged alphabetically, and formatted according to APA 7th edition style.

3. Citation and Reference Style

  • Citation: Use the author-date system, for example: (Rahman, 2020) or (Ali & Yusuf, 2021, p. 45).
  • Reference Style: All references must follow the APA 7th Edition format.
  • Reference Management: Authors are encouraged to use software such as Mendeley, EndNote, or Zotero.

4. Submission Process

  • Manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the Open Journal System (OJS) of Al-Ahla: Jurnal Ilmu Hukum dan Hukum Keluarga Islam.
  • Authors must ensure that their manuscript is free from grammatical errors and plagiarism before submission.
  • A similarity check will be conducted using standard plagiarism detection software; manuscripts exceeding 20% similarity may be rejected.
  • After submission, authors can track the review progress via their OJS account.

5. Ethical and Legal Compliance

Authors must ensure that their manuscripts comply with the Publication Ethics of Al-Ahla: Jurnal Ilmu Hukum dan Hukum Keluarga Islam and the principles of academic honesty. Any ethical violation — including plagiarism, data manipulation, or duplicate publication — will result in rejection or retraction of the article.
