Focus

Al-Ahla is dedicated to advancing scholarship in legal studies, Islamic law (Sharia), and, in particular, Islamic family law across national and transnational contexts. The journal emphasizes theoretically rigorous and empirically grounded inquiries into doctrinal foundations, legal principles, and practices that shape family, community, and Islamic ethical life, with a sustained attention to their social, cultural, and regulatory ramifications in contemporary settings.

We publish original research articles, scholarly essays, and book reviews that contribute to the refinement of concepts, methods, and debates in Islamic law and Islamic family law, fostering dialogue between normative analysis and socio-legal perspectives.

Aim: To serve as a forum for academics, researchers, and practitioners to present robust findings and critical insights on the dynamics of law and Muslim family life—integrating normative analysis, historical development, and social practice—with relevance for both local jurisdictions and the wider Islamic world.
