The journal is committed to maintaining permanent scholarly records and providing open access to its full-text articles for current and future generations of researchers.

1. PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN)

  • Al-Ahla utilizes the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) for digital archiving, which provides secure and decentralized preservation of journal content.
  • Through PKP PN, all published articles are automatically preserved to prevent data loss due to server failures or other unforeseen circumstances.
  • The PKP PN system ensures that the journal’s digital content remains accessible even in the event of website unavailability.

2. Institutional and National Repositories

  • In addition to PKP PN, Al-Ahla encourages authors to deposit published versions of their articles in institutional repositories, national libraries, or subject-based repositories.
  • Authors are permitted to self-archive the published version (PDF) of their article on personal websites, institutional repositories, and academic social networks (e.g., ResearchGate, Academia.edu) immediately after publication.
  • Each archived version must include a citation and link to the original article on the Al-Ahla website.

3. Metadata Harvesting and Indexing

  • The journal’s metadata is interoperable and can be harvested via the Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH).

4. Digital Preservation Policy

The editorial team ensures the preservation of the digital content through redundant backup systems and version control mechanisms. In case of data corruption or website migration, all digital files are securely restored from backup archives without loss of content or integrity.
