Al-Khadim: Jurnal Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat utilizes the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform to manage its entire publishing process. The system ensures transparency, accountability, and quality control from submission to publication, enabling efficient communication between authors, editors, and reviewers.
1) Workflow Overview
- All manuscripts are submitted through the OJS submission portal on the Al-Khadim website.
- Each submission is assigned a unique ID for monitoring and correspondence throughout the editorial process.
- All communications between authors, editors, and reviewers are handled exclusively within the OJS environment for security and traceability.
2) Editorial Screening
- Upon submission, the editorial team conducts an initial screening to assess the manuscript’s relevance to the journal’s focus and scope, structural quality, and language clarity.
- All manuscripts are checked for plagiarism using Turnitin or similar detection tools before peer review.
- Manuscripts that pass this stage are forwarded to the peer-review process, while those that fail to meet basic requirements are returned to the authors for revision or rejection.
3) Peer Review and Decision
- Each manuscript undergoes a double-blind peer review process by at least two reviewers who are experts in relevant fields.
- Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on originality, methodological rigor, ethical standards, clarity, and contribution to knowledge or community practice.
- The editorial decision (accept, revise, or reject) is made based on reviewers’ recommendations and the Editor-in-Chief’s evaluation.
4) Production and DOI Registration
- Accepted manuscripts are processed through copyediting, layout formatting, and proofreading to ensure professional presentation.
- Authors are required to review and approve galley proofs before final publication.
- Each article receives a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) to ensure global accessibility and citation tracking.
5) Open Access and Indexing
- Al-Khadim adopts a gold open access policy, allowing immediate and free access to all published content.
- The OJS platform supports OAI-PMH for metadata harvesting and integration with academic databases and repositories.
- Articles are indexed in national and international indexing services to enhance visibility and citation impact.
6) Archiving and Preservation
- The journal ensures long-term digital preservation through participation in the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN).
- All content is regularly backed up and stored in secure institutional and third-party repositories to prevent data loss.
7) Ethical Compliance
The publishing workflow adheres to the Publication Ethics and Plagiarism Screening Policy of Al-Khadim, aligning with the best practices recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
